VoSnap’s not live! What gives?

Posted on Jul 09, 2007 @ 10:20 am in Planning

A website you were working on or watching didn’t launch. This is because:

a) Planned to do it at 4am
b) Got too excited to launch it
c) The server ate it
d) People are really excited to see it

Text your answer to 44… (if VoSnap was working, we could get your opinion). Since it is not, we have the comments on this blog.

I really wish the site is live. Some core guys worked really late into the night, far past where my energy level dropped off. I awoke with excitement, wanting to see our Quick Vote application live. It was not, and I am not sure why. As people wake up today I will poll everyone to see where we are and how close we are to launching. I will keep everyone updated on the progress.

You can visit vosnap.com and sign up to be notified the minute it launches.

What Is Next?

A core team of 12 people have signed on to work to launch VoSnap and take it to a ‘post Startup Weekend’ level. We hope to launch very soon, get user feedback, improve the usability and quality of the service, and build upon what we have built.

I am going to update this site today as soon as I learn more.

Thanks for the update. Definitely curious to hear the details as you find them. A lot of people are interested in the weekend concept itself, as much if not more than the product, so any feedback that can be shared on ‘lessons learned’ would have as much interest as would a launch announcement.

My vote is for (d).. its out there people are just too excited that they are not seeing it :)
    Can’t wait to see it

Can’t wait to try it out Andrew. Props to the late night crew (LNC) working hard to get it done and available to the public!

Hey folks, glad you are interested in what went down over the weekend and what is to come… I had the pleasure of being hunkered down with the core backend development team over the weekend. What a fantastic group of smart and cool guys! I was in awe of the brain power that was huddled around the table! And what an amazing group of folks all gathered in one room… unbelievable.

Some of the brave soldiers hung in well into the wee hours of the morning, but some of us had to cut out to rest to get back to our day jobs or to head home (I’m talking about you my man Babu from Boston)! There were still some bugs that needed to be squashed when I left and it seems there are still a few… with so many people working on the project there was a fair amount of complexity involved in getting it all to glue together.

To the folks who hung in thru the night… you are rock stars!

After everyone decompresses and has a few minutes to catch their breath, there will be plenty more to follow I am sure.

In closing, I can say one thing… if you are interested in reproducing this model in a city near you, you’d better find a clone of Andrew Hyde somewhere, cuz my man ran this ship like a 5-star admiral!

We said a startup in 3 days right? Technically we have until 6pm. ;)

I’m so interested in seeing VoSnap that I’d be happy with just a non-function site preview. Oh, wait! I already found it.

    Looks purty!

We plan on getting feedback from everyone who attended, and I am sure you will see a long post here about lessons learned, how we can do it better the next time, etc. The hardest thing about VoSnap not being launched is knowing how close we are to making it happen. The most exciting thing was seeing the commitment from the dev team to make it happen. Remember folks these guys put in 60+ hours FOR FREE, and not once was there a grumble or a sense of defeat. If you can only trust one thing, its that there will be VoSnaps on your phone, and they will rock.
